Örbyhus Castle

The castle, beautifully located by the Vendelsjön lake a few kilometers south of Örbyhus, was built in the mid-15th century by the grandfather of king Gustav Vasa. During the 16th century, this became a seat of power in northern Uppland, and it was here that Erik XIV was fed the fated pea soup in 1577.
